Climate Prediction

ClimatePrediction.net
Mike is active in the ClimatePrediction.net (cpdn) community, which is a distributed computing project to create the world's best prediction of the climate over the next 100 years. You can download the cpdn screen saver which runs the climate model in the background as you use the computer from the download page. Discussion about the project and more general climate issues may be found on the cpdn forum. See my links of recommended global warming sites.

Some of my results can be found here.

Open Source Programming

JRefactory

Mike Atkinson was the maintainer of the JRefactory Java Refactoring and pretty printing tool, see the website for more information. Unfortunately due to change of circumstances I am no longer actively able to maintain JRefactory.

I've been thinking on how to do scientific and technical computing within the Java platform, my answer is the ScientificJ language, a companion language to Java that is much better suited to scientific computing while still building on the Java Virtual Machine and class libraries.

Natural History

Some details of Bracknell's South Hill Park Natural History Society. Mike is now a member of Horsham Natural History Society.

Mike's trip to Trinidad and Tobago (and as a table here).
